George Murphy and Frank Cassidy

Tuesday, 14th November, 8pm, Shottstown Miners Club, Penicuik.

George Murphy and Frank Cassidy – Irish songs and tunes.

This Irish duo visited us and we liked them so much that we booked them.  COVID messed up earlier bookings, but they’re going to be here next week – George plays vocals, guitar, harmonica, bodhran and tin whistle, while Frank plays  bouzouki, guitar.

Both sing … a lot!

Geoge was a member of Failte folk group for 20 years. They toured extensively, both nationally and internationally, while recording a number of albums.  Then he performed solo for a period, before joining up with Frank Cassidy. Frank has been playing bouzouki, since the age of 18.  Since that, he has been a member of a number of folk and traditional bands. He is equally comfortable, playing tunes or accompanying songs.  He even spent some time touring with the great uileann piper,

Liam O Flynn.

They have now played and toured for 11 years.  Their material consists of original songs and collected songs, along with a selection of lively tunes. There will also be a lot of laughs!

This will be a lively, fun evening with two lovely Irish musicians – hope to see you there.
